mindfully together students

In this class we learn these essential life skills:

  • Make connections between the mind and body—practice experiencing body sensations, thoughts and emotions so they can connect with their inner self

  • Learning to identify Kind Mind and when Unkind Mind shows up, including the ‘whys’ and ‘hows’ to not cover up uncomfortable thoughts and emotions like loneliness or anxiety

  • Steps to choose your behavior. When you better recognize why you are upset, you can see new ways to respond wisely vs. reacting unkindly

  • Accessing the difference in experience between being fully present and behaving in auto-pilot

  • Learning to practice loving kindness for oneself which is essential to being able to give others loving kindness

Students also learn the research and science behind how the body, brain, and emotions work so they understand how they can support their inner self. With practice, momentum for these mindful fundamentals builds over the course of the class, just like exercising muscles in the body.Proven benefits to mindfulness in youth

Experience mindfulness with Mindfully Together Students

  • In these classes, MT students ages 10 to 18 learn how to follow the journey of the breath to the still quiet centre that is within them. We cultivate our mindfulness muscle and learn to begin again with more kindness and self-compassion.  This builds focused attention and resilience .

  • By practicing impulse control and self regulation, students learn how to give themselves a little more space so that they can know their inner selves more clearly–their values and their sense of connection and belonging. Learning to be more okay with daily life experiences helps to reduce stress and anxiety, and leads to feeling more self-confident.
